7 months old!

I'm a little late in getting this post out, but Lucy turned 7 months old about a week and a half ago. Her little personality continues to grow and develop and she is so much fun to have in our family. She is pretty adept at getting anywhere she wants to go. Her new trick now is to push herself onto her hands and knees and rock back and forth. If she tries to move one of her legs forward, she throws herself off balance and collapses to the ground, and then she goes for the army crawl, pushing with her feet and dragging herself forward a little bit. She doesn't army crawl very far, though. If she really wants to travel some distance, she resorts to the tried and true method of rolling there.

Another one of her new favorite things is shaking her head. I don't know where she picked that up from, but she decided it's a pretty fun thing to do. Sometimes I'll nod my head at her, and she'll stare and me for a second and then shake her head back at me. This could go on for minutes at a time, and it's hilarious to Adam and myself. She is just so darn cute when she's being contrary.

This past month we've started her on some fruits and veggies. This time around I'm making the baby food by steaming and pureeing the veggies in the food processor and pureeing canned fruits in the blender. So far we've tried green beans, pears, carrots, applesauce, peas and peaches. And we've ventured into oatmeal, too, to complement the rice cereal she's been eating for a few months now. She seems to like everything she's tried so far, so that's a plus. She can also hold her bottle all by herself, which is really cool.

Little Lucy still babbles up a storm and loves to say, "dadadadadadadada." She also must have aspirations to be the Olympic champion of chewing on things because she practices ALL THE TIME. She LOVES to use her two little chompers. We keep waiting for more to show up, but nothing yet. She is the master of finding shoes to chew on.
